Hello all, i am having trouble with my peugeot speedfight 2 50cc and i thought this is the perfect place to come to get advice. The problem is that the electric start on the bike doesnt work, wen is press it whilst holding the brake the oil light appears, because i have filled the oil up i dont think this is the problem. The kick start is not practival for me. Also could someone please tell me what oil and petrol i am supposed to use because the person i brought the bike of was just passing it on and didnt have a clue. I dont want to be filling it up wrongly so if someone could please tell me it would be greatly appreciated.
1. The oil light comes on when you press the starter button as a test that the bulb is working. 2. check that the brake light comes on when pulling the brake, if not then your problem is a brake light switch. 3. If there is no attempt made by the motor to start the engine then the problem is an electrical fault, check the fuses, check that all the earth cables are connected properly. 4. Its possible that your starter relay has gone, this may make a clicking sound when you press the button. you should use a good 2 stroke oil, something like Putoline TT scooter +, Castrol scooter or silkoline Scoot +. petrol is just regular unleaded, dont put the high performance crap in it as it makes no difference on a scooter.
than for the quick response and help wobbly_trials, i can hear a clicking sound when is press the electric start, and the brake lights work. Also when i leave the bike running for a while and then stop it running and try to start it up again with the electric start it works. but if i turn it off and leave it for a while the evil clicking sound starts but the bike will not thanx again Blue_paul
thanx every1 for their help. i jus took the battery out, i'll try and get a new one tommorow, because i havent got a charger for it. i can see now why that could be the problem. cheers everyone.
its a peugeot arc: if the brake light is working the oil light is coming on and theres a clicking sound when you thumb the starter ? if so your starter motor is more than likely seized like every other peugeot ive encountered best thing to do is remove the starter see if it will turn freely if not get some wd40 on the go and spray it all round the motor so it soaks into the motor and all the cogs let it sit over night and try again the next day if its the same get yourself a new one off ebay
all sorted now thanks. i brought a charger for the battery this morning and charged it for a couple hours to see if it was the problem. and it worked when i put it back in. so im going to leave it charge for while. thanx a lot everyone!!
