Hi guys as you may have read in a post i posted a few days back im now doing pretty much a full overhall on my PGO TREX 50 for the summer tonight we fitted a 70cc Cylinder Kit, Spark plug, Coil & HT lead & Upjetted to a 85mm Jet.

Now i have moved onto the transmission side of things, and am going to be changing the rollers, belt and clutch but the engine keeps turning when trying to undo the NUT on the variator so after looking around i found out about a 'PISTON STOPPER' so i bought one online and it should be here by the weekend.

My question is how SAFE are these to use? Any tips?

My tip is don't use it, use a rattle gun to undo the nut or a variator locking tool. You will need the variator tool when you torque the nut back on.

I dont have the use of a Rattle gun, but i do have a torgue wrench.

Would be piston stopper do any damage aslong as i turn the engine by hand carefully till it stops moving?

I have used piston stoppers for years... never had a problem. As long as you dont turn the engine with the piston stopper in you will be fine :)

I would never use a piston stopper but I generally have expensive kits. Putting force on the piston/crank with the possibility of causing damage or buying a locking tool or strap wrench for the same money. It's a no brainer for me.
