Are there any benefits in renewing a piston and rings? My bike is quite old but still in running order, and i was wondering if a new piston and rings will help with anything...

Well is the piston scored ? No point if it isn't.

Actually not true. Using a new piston (especially a bigger one) and new rings will help you increasing the compression back to original again.
Pistons are available in different sizes usually marked with an A-D. Since your cylinder walls are wearing off you loose compression which instantly results in a loss of power.
Make sure when replacing the piston to also replace any blankets with new ones.

    Best,

Why would you fit a over sized piston on a kit when it hasn't been bored out ?

It's not an over sized piston it's just a slightly larger one. Your bore and piston both wear down very small amounts over time so normally not only do you have to fit a new piston eventually as it's not really fitting properly but you also need to fit a slightly bigger one.

The Blata B1 LC engines when ordering a new cylinder or piston have different sized pistons A, B or C, its the same displacement, but they are all slightly different much like matching barrels and cases etc the correct combination will give the best performance.

Erm, you need to check the ring gap clearance before installing a piston ring, you might need to file the ring down slightly to ensure that the correct gap is there.

yes used to do it a lot,it was a done thing, you had to be very careful
and i used small rifler files,
You dont do it on two strokes that have pins in piston lands
