Hi guys, my ped rattles like hell when your riding and when you rev it hard, it also makes a very quiet rattling when it's on idle.
It sounds as though it's comig from the gearbox?
    Any ideas?
Also my old engine had a variator with much smaller rollers In? The variator was the right size for the rollers so it wasn't wrong but do you think it had been changed for a sporty one?
    Cheers

change your rollers and make sure everything is all tightened up. your variator bolt has proberly came loose. Check that first as its a very easy job !

are you sure it's coming from the gear box and not the top end , could be small end bearing rattle

yeah it could be a loose crankshaft or broken bearings. On a two stroke sometimes its hard to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. If its a loud rattling noise i doubt its the clutch, its probably the crank.

It can't be the crank or the little end because it's not a consistent nock, it's a every couple of seconds loud or quiet tap, sometimes it doesn't do it sometimes it does or maybe I just don't notice it? Still runs brilliant
I'm sure it's the gearbox because I revved it and stuck my head right againsy it's defo gearbox

small end = rattle , big end = knocking , doubt it would be the clutch rattling , maybe the gear box bearings could need replacing

I'm gonna hope it's just gearbox bearings. I'm sure that's all it was? To me it sounds like chipped teeth going round.
Because it was running with practically no gearbox oil until I heard it and filled it up

if its doing it on idle without the wheel moving then it wont be the gearbox

When it's on idle and the back wheels spinning it's a very rare sound, like once every 5 seconds

so is it a rattle or a knocking sound ? and which side of the transmission case is it coming from when you installed the rollers did you make sure not come out of the variator when sliding it on the crank , also did you remember to take the slack out of the drive belt
