Hi I have had a 55w bulb in head light on my piaggio zip which resulted in the ground connection in the socket burnt to the side. After this, the start button and the indicator lights and horns stopped working - Could it be the voltage regulator that burned off?

    (Dumb me )

Very likely. I'd suggest borrowing a regulator from someone to test it out.

Is the headlight ac or Dc on those?
Worth checking your battery voltage too.

Ahh yeah I guess it's the reg. Most bikes these days are ac lights. Putting the wrong bulb in will fry it I guess

The >2018 piaggio scooters all run on dc. It's a very simple modification to convert the older ones. The pros are that the light doesn't flicker at low rpm and it turns on as soon as you turn the key. Some people don't like the last one but I find it very useful. You can also run a hid xenon kit or LED-s for better light output
