hello I have a piaggio Typhoon 50 and i want to put a 125 engine into the frame Are there any other engines that fit in apart from the typh engine i heard and sr engine fits in as standard? and it has to be 2 stroke and air cooled whats the best way to make it go super quick cheers
i would like it to be a 180 so i would be buying the parts? i have a 50 frame the fucking 125 as described are very pricey to start off with? your looking at £500 notes for a 125 then there is the price to make it a 180 ??
so what,m you gonna go STEAL a 180 for the parts then are you? as PARTS cost MORE than 125's do (your prittymuch buying a bike in bits, an there are NO good second hand std engines about so any second hand one WILL need a rebuild) ask ANYONE who has done a conversion how much it ended up costing(ye i mean WITH an mot, so 99% of these idiots dont count)
looool at minor i understand where your coming from mate you want a fast bike n all that i done a conversion and i know a fair bit about peds ( not much but a bit ) and it turned horribly wrong buy a 125 or dont do it really not worth it
Ok forget the 180 cc for now if i got a aprilia 125 sr engine would it fit in to typh frame i know what your both saying
i disagree to be honest .its illegal unless all swapped over .but whats not illegal any none emarked pipe for a start .i think i could get 125 stadard on road tax n tested in a zip frame for 500 .ironicly the price of the bike lol .in some cases in fact a lot of cases it aint worth it BUT IN SOME ITS A FUKIN GREAT IDEA in my opinion that is
hes right thought the same thing was like yea all i need is the loom and engine but nah lol everyday something new to buy comes in i should of just bought a 125 instead of making one and plus its not easy to re register as 125 very long hastle mate.
you will need engine, loom, exhaust, carb, correct back wheel and caliper/disc for the engine,125 clocks and switchgear ( if your planning on registering it legally as a 125 ie needs full beam etc.) and 125 rad if doing lc! ooo and a side stand!! then add tax and mot and its close to 500 quid. just sell the 50 and use the money to buy a 125 in the first place. much cheaper and much less hassle in the long run! ive been there done the conversion, (runner 50 to 180) the only way ive found you can do it cheaply is buy buying a written off bike, (frame/ panels/ forks etc fuked) but with the engine and everyting still attached! and even then it is alot of hassle. and you need a good brain about ya as its really aint as simple as its looks half the time! espec getting it legaly registered!
sr engine is the same as a typh,... BUT its solid mounts, they last 2 mins in a normal frame/mount.. sell it, as for legality, you DO realise you ether need to take it for a dvla inspection, have a shop do the wor2k2 or have an sva test to turn a MOPED into a MOTORCYCLE. nobody see2m2s to facter2 this into the cost there 2is ONE reason to do a conversion, when you want a bike you CANT buy as a 125 as a 125, have ALL the parts at your disposal, the basic knowhow to do the job and have a clue about legality. the other hasels are once its built.. the brakes are the same on the 50/125 as are the foirks in some cases (typhoons) but the petrol tank is NOT the same (125 has 2 tanks) i get 20 odd miles out of my 50 tank with the 70 inn (big carb, its a drinker) on conversions your lucky to get that.. let alone sommin quick, as for the engine mount';s there CONSTANTLY wearing out.. honestly.. sell your bike and BUY a typh 125..
Ive just finished my conversion, I picked up a cheap gilera runner engine off gumtree with all tuning parts on it stripped it down and rebuilt it and it was fine i just bolted it in my frame but i had a little proble with the wireing etc but thats fine now all i need is a back brake system which dys is sorting me out with and thats it My engine cost £120 and came with malossi 70 bore which was brand new only done 100 miles, pm 360 pipe, polini clutch etc etc so that was a good deal. and all i need to do now is get the brakes and shit off dys. So all im gonna spend on my conversion is gonna be £130-£145 the most. My dad used to work in stoppies in wallington surrey, HE has helped me out quite alot with this project and said it will pass an mot without no problems. Which isnt bad atall ayy minor.
yhyh 70 is obv easier m8 no1s saying that m8 as no hassle swappin the class of the ect ect but i have a nrg 172 cozzzzz it came cheap .along with all the work needed .as i said there are many cases were theres no need and some were its silly not to imo .
