Hi guys. Had to change my carb, the idle air screw was seized solid and the bike was idling badly. Ive never known a bike that was so prone to corrosion problems! Anyway, couldnt free it off, partially drilled it out but its a write off, still blocked/seized. The new carb idles perfectly but isnt easy to start, suggesting the auto choke is at fault. It seems to be a different design to most, being held extended by a spring - this must be the off position. Most are retracted when on (rich) and extend when heated. Problem is it doesnt budge when heated or cooled :-/ . Anyone tested one of these before? Cheers, H
Ok, thanks for the feedback. Looks like I was being dumb, it does extend as it heats up, I think the spring just gives it a helping hand. I suspect my problem is actually a low battery, only supplying around 10V at the auto choke. Lights are permanently on on this model so driving the starter at the correct speed to fire the plug will take a healthy battery! I'll give it a charge over the weekend and see if that makes a difference.
if your battery has been totally flat you will find it wont hold a charge and its just trash, charge it up and recheck it after a while to make sure its holding power.
Turns out the new carb needed a good blow out at 90 psi! Enricher working properly, engine starts with little or no throttle.
