hi just wondered as new to all this scooter stuff :banghead: having bought a piaggio 50cc nrg jordan i was thinking of making some upgrades on it ? but on the other hand wouldnt it be easier to replace the engine with a 100cc or 125cc unit. ?? wouldnt wanna go any higher than that to be legal  .. the question is are there any piaggio engines out there that with bolt relatively easy into my scooter without too much hassle ?? :beg: any help or info would be very helpful !! thanks all pete.
The best thing u can do is get a 70cc kit there's loads to choose from. but that's the main thing u need to do first to see more power or go and buy a 125 bike. putting a 125 engine in a 50 frame is more trouble than its worth.
yeah been looking at those kits (so many on the market) do you have to upgrade the carb or just re-jet it ? also the rollers etc do they need to be upgraded if a 70 kit fitted ? as i say this is all new to me (re-cycled teenager lol) thanks pete...
Depends on the kit you get, the more high end and midrace kits need a bigger carb, but the sport 70 kits like the polini and mallossi (cast iron kits), will run on the standard carb upjetted to suit, and yes you need to fit lighter rollers. Cast iron 70kit with a suitable exhaust like the yasuni R, would make one hell of a difference over the standard engine. No point trying to fit a 125 engine, easy to make it fit and run, hard to get it thru an MOT and hard to make it ride smooth and straight... Most conversions ride like wobbly shopping trollys and are death traps! The 50 engine mounts cant handle the 125 engine for long and will eventaully snap whilst doing 80mph causing certain death!
thanks mate i will take that information on board and go for a polini kit i think ? it already has a after market exhaust on anyway it a stage 6 pro replica in crome looks good will do i think ??? will most probably run it original till winter then get it in the shed to do over winter thanks for the info regards pete...
ive seen alot of them 125 conversions their ringers tbh.. you gotta go through a load of hassle to get it through a mot and its a bodge and flimsy job when most ppl do them
hi jamie72 yeah not doing the transplant now will go for a 70 kit instead !! just been repairing the nose cone part as the head lights were just hanging inside god knows how the last owner saw anything at night lol had to fibreglass the bracket back on so the lights stay in one place repair all the cracks and rub down its now ready for primer but thats for another day !! cheers guys pete...
That stage 6 pipe you have should go well with a polini sport 70! And to be fair if you got enough doe to convert to a 125, for less work you could build a monster 70 engine and be just as quick as a 125, and keep up with some 172s.. If you could build a 20-25bhp 70 engine your laughing.
     dunno bout that ?? doe haha i wish ! we could all do with some extra of that stuff lol no will get the paint work done etc then do the 70 kit in the winter months (perhaps !!)
If you got a grand or 2 to spend on a engine you can make a 70 as quick as a bolt on 172, not in topend speed but it'll accelerate just as fast if not faster. now a TUNED 172 would rip any 70...
a grand or 2 haha dont think so !! no just wanna make my scooter look nice and give it a bit more poke than as standard (havent even rode it yet) how good are those haynes manuals for the scooters as some of them for cars are crap !! could always put my spare 4.2 polini engine in it from my mini moto lol !! only joking guys
I'd love to see a minimoto engine in a ped, some of them are fairly powerful engines too lol. Well if you just want abit more poke from your 50 just get a sport 70kit and a decent exhaust to match, 17.5mm carb or larger too. Should go well and be reliable enough for everyday use.
aaah good pics i need them cus cant read  but seriously yeah think will get a haynes manual as all the scooter stuff is a bit alien to me i.e rollers/variators/etc etc. yes some of the mini moto engines are very quick i think even my 4.2 would beat my ped lol but then again we are 6inches from the ground it seems like you are doing 100mpm :yahoo: :yahoo:
