i have an air cooled nrg mc3 and about a month ago i was riding it, then started juddering as i was slowing down near to a stop so i just carried on tryin to get back to work, then i noticed when i got of it then gearbox was madhot and the backwheel is veryy stiff and has very little movement init mostly backwards, but it starts fine on the stand then when u come to ride it it cuts out, personally i think it could be a axel bearing or something because since i had a malossi fly clutch installed i was pulling wheelies so maybe thats what it is :/ im desperate for some help as its been off the road for 2 months now and i want to find out what it is before i pay 30pound an hour for a guy to fix it. any ideas ?
if the back wheel is very stiff make sure the breaks are not stuck on and also make sure it has gearbox oil good look getting it fixed
Have you Found out what the Problem is yet mate? Can you let me know what was up with yours please My Gilera Runner is doing the Same thing after Doing a Few Wheelies
THANKS GRANT MC3 FOR YOUR REPLY, NOT SURE IF BACK BRAKE IS STUCK ON OR NOT BUT THE BRAKE LEAVER U CAN PULL IT IN 3/4 OF THE WAY BACK, OTHER THAN THAT ON THE DIPSTICK ON THE GEAR BOX IT IS JUST UNDER THE CENTRAL NOTCH SO NOT SURE IF THAT IS THE PROBLEM, BUT WHEN THE BIKE IS IDLING ON THE STAND THE WHEEL WILL SPIN FAIRLY QUICKLY SO WHEN I DO TAKE IT OF THE STAND IT WIL CUT OUT OR EITHER MOVES FORWARD ON ITS OWN SLOWLY, STEVIE RUNNER10 NOT GOT TO THE BOTTOM OF IT YET MATE, REALLY ANNOYING ISIT.
Clutch is binding and not coming off. Is your idle too high? If it is the clutch will engage. If not you need to look at the clutch and find why it's sticking on, could be the springs are weak and shoes are coming out too soon
thanks for the reply will check this later but when the bike is on the stand on turned off there is very little movement in the back wheel and is does make a binding noise, so like u say could be the clutch binding but not had it in so long or could it be the gears?
Most probably the rear wheel bearings. You've been wheeling, so putting ALL the bikes weight onto the rear wheel. This would knock out bearings over time. Clutch could be stuck also, when you turn the wheel does the engine turn over?
yes sometimes if u force the wheel round u can hear a stroke from the engine, where abouts is the wheel bearing is it behind the clutch or do i have to enter the gear box, thanks for reply
Im thinking it could be to do with the Wheel bearing where is that placed? Its really getting on my nervs now.. when mines on the stand when the Back wheel is off the ground the wheel spins and makes a clicking sound!!
Hey mate, get the engine cover off, the clutch bell and the back wheel - and take some pictures and post them on here so we can have a look. Take some close ups of the clutch, the inside of the clutch bell (to see any possible scoring) and some of the rear wheel area, where it attaches and such.
I found out today what was up with mine YAAY! lol It was cos i had a pipe and rollers and up Jetted with out putting my harder Clutch Springs in so i changed the Clutch with Harder Springs and its all fine now Hope you find whats wrong with yours in the end anyways!
thanks for advice, not had time to solve the problem yet and need to sort it pretty soon as catching the bus everywhere is a fukin joke , my scoot is the exact same as yours that jordan 1
wheel bearing is fairly easy to diagnose.. grab the rear wheel and try and move it left right/top and bottom (in other words see if you can make it wobble slightly) any play other than rotation in the wheel means change the whel bearing as its pritty close to collapsing.. clutch is easy to check. just pull the cover off, hold the rear pully and turn the clutch bell (do this on the centre stand with the rear wheel off the ground) they should turn independantly of each other.
finally the bike is fixed it was the big nut what held the clutch shoes to the pulley that was loose and was grinding on the bell, now all i need is mot and tax, will it pass mot if the front forks leak oil on the tubes
