i have never worked on a scooter before only motorcycles,,my mate has bought a piaggio nrg ant it is abit sluggish when riding the revs will pull to 5,000 then slowly go down to 4,000 and will not accelerate any more,,

any one know what this would be

and another thing i have tried adjusting the mixture screw how i would normal do it by letting the bike idle then turning the screw until i get the highest idle rpm, but when i do it like this the bike will bog when i rev the bike.
so i just adjust the screw until the bike revs ok

It should be revving higher than 5000... depending on the roller sizes in it, more like 7000 on a standard setup.. has it been modified at all?.. Could be a few things causing the low revs.. incorrect jet sizes, larger rollers, bad exhaust, etc, etc.. knowing the history of the mods might be a starting point.

I bought an NRG 6 weeks ago which had problems and I've spent the past 6 weeks virtually rebuilding it so I'm fairly up to speed with the setup of this bike now.. if you can post more details I'll try and help.
