    Morning guys,

So after years of not having a moped I started to look around for another one. I wanted a project something i can get hands on with. Usually I've always stuck with cars but I remember the good old days when being 16 and on a moped and it was good fun!

Anyway less of that... Brought myself a NRG liquid cooled 2011, always liked the look of these bikes used to have a aerox and loved that but the NRG always been my fav IMO.

Back to the bike... I will upload photos when i figure out how. Not been on forums in years so do you still upload via photobucket etc? Bike looks pretty much standard. Some cracked plastics here and there, few scuffs. Seems either the battery has had it or there is some kind of drain on the power which i am going to look into. Classic NRG seat doesn't lock properly pops open.

My plans I want to get the bike looking great and put some money into tuning it, however still want to keep the reliability. Not some 17 year old that just wants to get it crazy fast and race around all the time. It shall be done properly!

So from some searching on the forum i can see that a lot of people 70cc kit them, variator kit, bigger carb, sports exhaust. How would the crank deal with this? Is it nesaccery to replace this? Will a standard one run ok?

Will be sanding down all panels, wheels etc ready for paint, plus going to handlebar conversion this (also going to try some one off stuff here and try and build a housing for the original clocks if they are not too big) and rear end tidy if i can find the panel in stock somewhere. Just waiting on my haynes manual to be delivered then going to start cracking on with the engine parts.

    Updates to come!
Photos of when i got it home....

So small update, trying to do this all while working 2 jobs so progress will be slow!
All panels have been stripped from the bike. There currently in the body shop. Going Candy Red with it!
The rear under tray/number plate holder I have neatened up. It is going to be smoothed and im going to relocate number plate using either a gilera ice holder or a holder on the casing.

    Couple of things purchased...

Gilera DNA switches, Just going to be looking for a wiring diagram so i can get these wired up. Has anyone else done this before? If not ill post my findings on here, The only issue I'm having at the moment is the bars look a little busy, I'm half temped to sack of the gilera switches and get some S6 ones and some new brake levels and master cylinders. Again if anyone has any recommendations would be appreciated.

They're not correctly attached I know i was just test fitting but it seems the switches are too large to be honest.

More updates to come in next week or so, once panels are back from body shop going to be having the engine out and replacing some bits and bobs. Ive seen there is a leak coming from bottom of the oil tank but I'm assuming this is just a seal, the metal below the foot well was in a bad state but I have treated this ground all the rust off and it has undersealed hopefully this will prevent any future rust

    Cheers

you are right, they do look too big for those bars. You could ditch the right hand cluster, have the lights wired to come on with the ignition and use a push button located elsewhere to start it. There are custom switch boxes available for the horn, indicators and high/low beam.
Don't forget you will need at least one mirror on the right hand side for the MOT.
Koso do some nice clocks, nice bloody prices as well.......

Great shout, defo going to ditch these switches they look far too much, just had a look at the stage 6 ones which include wing mirror insert so this could be ideal!

    So small update tonight,

Got most of the inner panels sprayed and the number plate holder smoothed. Used a textured spray on these to get it that OEM look, on pictures they look slightly matt however they have more texture to them in person. Ill try get better pics up soon.

Main fairings will be going candy red in the next week or so.

    Pic of standard one:

    Other parts i've refreshed...

I still want reliability, so probably not going to go to mad with it. Once I’ve got the look sorted I’ll be taking the engine out and replacing crank, putting a 70cc kit along with yasuni exhaust, gear up kit and sports variator. From reading I’m assuming I can keep standard carb on this just jet it correctly. Hopefully this will all take place next month and it can be ready for the new year.

    cheers

cast iron 70, haha I’m excited aswell just so many projects on it’s taking longer than expected!

I’ve done some reading there, some say use it some say don’t. I’m assuming it wouldn’t need one unless I went race spec with it?

Finally got some paint on the panels, colours come out really nice, colours different dependant on how the lights hitting it

    All for now.

should have panels on in next week or so, I’ll have a look at wiring a new speedo on and sort out the bars and controls.

if your going to get Polini corsa I would get a gear up kit but if any other cast-iron it wouldn't be worth it.

Sunny weather out which means I can start doing some bits to the NRG, all panels back now just a case of reassembling, thought I would see what the front fairing would look like...

Real nice colour I like it, got wheels back the other day ....

    EED7E8A1-B990-426A-A7BC-C85E793A970E.jpeg

Some fresh rubber and powder coated.

Before I fix everything properly in place I’m going to sort the handle bars out, going to go with s6 switches just waiting for those to come back into stock along with the throttle as well.

Currently on the hunt for some different brake levers and cylinders if needs be, anyone have any links to where I would be able to find these? Just some smaller ones as standard are so long!

    cheers

Have a look at Pedparts, there's loads to choose from.
That's looking nice. A few tasteful but not overdone decals will set it off nicely.
Give me a shout if you want any, I have a vinyl cutter, can cut anything up to 48" high and as long as you want
That is, imagine the capital letter A, then imagine it 48" high
    :):):)

Thanks Steve! Ahh I have a look on there now and I will most likely be in contact as I was also thinking it would look nice with some small decals and maybe having some small ones for the wheels. I imagine this will be closer to the time when I am finishing up with the last details mind!

    cheers

    Slowly getting put back together.

stage 6 throttle ordered today so we can tidy handle bars up and will be ordering switch gear when it’s back in stock on ped parts.
Going to be repainting the callipers as they’re not looking as fresh as I would like.
replaced front wheel bearing and am doing pads on front and rear this week.

Nearly there with the way it looks!
No exhaust on atm as I thought it was pointless refitting when I’m only going to be putting a sports pipe on it anyway

    Cheers
