Hello and thank you for the add, I own a derbi gp1, 125 watercooled bike. It was bought with a blown up engine, are there diffences between all these style of engines, my one is engine code, m482m, I have found a used m232m but I am unsure if it will fit, it looks correct as it's water cooled and has a disc break. Any help more than welcome.

    Regards Kelvin

Your engine uses a 14" wheel I think ?, gear box will be different and possibly the length, check and measure them.

Hello thank you for the reply, I am thinking I will repair the engine I have, the valve adjuster bolt has been through the engine so the top end is wrecked.

when you say 'blown up engine' do you know exactly whats blown?

if its just 'blown' the head, its a 20 mins fix and £50-100 to get her back on the road.

Even if the crank is gone, so long as it hasent had a catastrophic failure, then you could still do it over a couple of days taking your time as a total novice and watching you tube guides every five minutes to make sure that you are doing it perfectly

either way would probably be cheaper than buying a good quality low milage secondhand engine

Hi by blow up, it's more that the engine has eaten something, I bought it with the engine half stripped, the chap that stripped up said one of the valve adjusters had fallen out, now I can't see how it could enter the combustion chamber, but one of the exhaust valves has hit the piston and been wrecked, I have since bought a secondhand head and bark/piston so I am going for a rebuild. I am going to take a chance on the crank and conrod as it look and feels fine. I just need to make sure there are no foreign parts in the timing chest, I will take the sump off and have a good look over the bottom end.

Dont forget to take the oil pump cover plate off and check the chain there

Hi yes I was going to have a quick check inside the oil pump as well, it's a shame I didn't strip the engine first to see what

I have the great job of trying to remove without wrecking the timing side oil seal. I see it normally uses a special tool.
