Right got insured on my ped again for a month. Was sat unstarted for a month prior to this. The problem is,was fine for the first day of riding, then the lights started to flicker, and the clocks. Indicators work fine, but front light and rear light dont work atall. So i have to keep my full beem pressed on and my brake lever held in slightly. I found a wire and it looks like it should be connected to something, but i cant find what. Can anyone give me a hand? Cheers.

the best thing to do is look for another connector block lol if it needs to clip into something then there will be another one somewhere

if the bike still works then i dont think its like a chaffed wire, have you checked the fuse and the engine earth strap

Thing is i have looked in the light, just cant seem to spot fuckall. Where abouts would the engine strap be located, and what does it look like. Im not sure if it can be to do with the lights, because the front light works if i keep full beem pressed on and my brake light works if i keep the lever slightly held in. Just at tickover or moving the lights dont work. Thats why i thought the wire i found could be something to do with it? Cheers for the help so far.

right the earth strap is on the left hand side at the top of the engine casing/. will be bolted on to the engine

also check the fuse and make sure all the wires around where the light switch SHOULD be are fine

sounds to me like you have no sidelights but you can get the brake light working and the main beam?

Niceone. Yeah i can get the 'full beam' working aslong as i manually keep the button pressed, and my brake light works providing i keep the lever slightly pulled in. Otherwise none of my lights work apart from my indicators. Thats why i took some pictures of the lead i found up there ^,because i thought it might be relevant to do with my lights not working?

whip the pannels off... 50's DONT have earth straps.. they have 2 wires on the starter motor.. this is the earth strap (same as a tyyph 125 where the rtunner they forgot to earth so bunged in a shitty wire at the last min)

you will find where its come from.. looks like a petrol sender (completes the lighting ring) or even oil.. have a look tho, its come out of somwhere and your lights dont work.. pritty simple really ay :D

Found the problem today. Set of wires next to the exhaust had melted or chafed away and damaged them. Old man had a go at them and sorted it nicely, all sweet as a nut now. Got a lad coming to look at it tomorrow so will probbably let him have it for £650. Cheers for the help lads.
