Right I have a zip 50 cat 2001 it has a malossi filter and a 64 main jet I just fitted a derestricted zx exhaust and now it revs and dies I've tried every possible position on the mixture screw and fiddled with the idle screw but no luck any help please. Oh and the carb is a dellorto 17.5 but there is a tube coming out the top of the carb and it's blanked off? What and why is it like that?
You may need to upjet or downjet what jet have you got in ? Also what rollers? Better to check the little things rather than just go big straight away if u no what I mean
MATE U NEED TO UPJET IS U HAVE A NEW EXHAUST AND A OPEN FILTER U WILL NEED AT LEAST 80 JET PLUS AND THE TUBE COULD BE UR AUTO CHOKE IS THERE WIRES IN IT
4.1 gram rollers in it now and its a malossi foam filter that fits in standard airbox the exhuast comes with 4.8 gram rollers what do you think I should do?
And the pipe coming out the top of the carb the manifold side that's had a screw in it to block it off I took the screw out and it seems to suck in air? What is this for? Where was it ment to go before it was blocked off? And is it some sort of restictor?
my did this but the exhaust gasket was blowing big time replaced the gasket and up jetted it buy 5-10 and not had a problem in ages
It doesn't have a gasget it's a zx exhaust and I'm not sure what size jet to put in it as the 64 jet isn't standerd?
It says 10% increase with jet size on a 50cc and10% of 58 is 63.8 and I have a 64 in there unless the standerd jet size on a air cooled piaggio zip with 17.5 delorto carb is less than 58 main jet standerd?
It's not a open filter? and can you see the tube blocked in picture 2? That sucks air in when the screw is out of it? And another question is the bike pulls away fine when you just start it up but then when it gets hot after 5 min ride it pulls away really slow like you pull the throttle back and it doesnt even rev for like 5 seconds? And then when it does start to rev it takes ages for it to pick up but then when the rollers kick in its fine again?
Right I just took off the carb and cleaned it and the spark plug and airbox and now it seems to be running right but only tested it in my garden ATM. And it has 4.1 gram rollers in it ATM but should I fit the 4.8 gram rollers that came with my exhaust?
the zx exhaust should have a gasket try your 4.1 rollers i found the rollers that came with my zx where well off anyway
have you got the oil pump on there or do you premix? also, i did the same with mine, new air box filter, up jet (64 or 65, 10% increase) and exhaust with 5.5g rollers and it was running like a bag of shit. summer holidays hoping to give it a strip
