Hi folks, new to the site and looking for a bit of technical help. On my sons Peugeot scooter a hose coming from the exhaust goes through an inline plastic module before terminating at a foam type muffler under the seat. Any ideas what this square plastic module could be ? It has basically melted a hole in the side and sounds like the exhaust was blowing. I have secured both hoses to this module and taken it offline.
Sounds like an EGR ( exhaust gas recyler ) , shouldnt be melting either . Oh and Welcome to Rhe Scooter Shack Scott
Yes thats what it could be thank you, just trying to find a spare now. I initially thought his exhaust gasket had gone but it was the hose that goes from the exhaust to this EGR, both the hose and the EGR had heat damage and I am very puzzled into how a hole has actually melted through. I have folded over the hose and tiewrapped it closed in the meantime and the engine seems fine through the rev range. Thanks Tamiyacowboy!!
