    Just a quick update:

I stripped and cleaned the carb - replaced the coil, ht lead and plug as well as the vacuum tap and still no joy.

As i said it starts up easily enough first time and idles, revs as it should (lots of blue smoke pressumably due to 2t mixture) and then dies after 10-15 secs no matter how many revs or idle speed --- like its starved of fuel but im pretty sure its not fuel and its electrical.

Battery is reading just over 12v.

I bought it as a non runner and i did get it running for a little while, then i believe the battery charger was put on the wrong terminals causing it to blow the fuse -- Just wondering if this has fried somthing.

The immobilizer light does not flash nor did it when the bike was running so i think this may have been bypassed already - Would the regulator/rectifier cause this to happen (as in it starts up on DC from the battery and as it then feeds ac to rectifier the rectifier does not feed the dc back???)

The problem is i cannot get the bike to run for long enough to check the components using a voltmeter - after the first time it has been started it gets progresivly worse until the bike will not start at all and just coughs and farts. Taking the plug out it seems pretty wet although is very black.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

    Many thanks,
    James

I have now taken the barrel off only to find the piston and barrel are quite badly scored - It looks as though it may have been heat seazed at one time.

But i cannot understand why this would cause the bike to cut out?
