    Hey people,

A friend of mine is having problems with his peugeot speedfight 100cc.
Last night on his way home his bike cut out at a set of traffic lights
and he had to push it home, this morning he couldn't start it at all.
So I took a look at it, and after going through the common causes of this
problem I couldn't find a fault. So I cleaned the spark plug, made
sure that the jets were clear and cleaned the carb, ect and I was able to
get the bike running while blocking the air intake. At first it would
idle for a few seconds and then cut out, and eventually I got it to run.
The only problem is, when I go to take off it dies unless I genitally build
up the rev's and push the bike slightly, and it's difficult to get running again, which is causing me to think the compression is being lost slightly, but it runs perfectly past 10mph? I was then told, 2 hours prior to the problem, my friend had a new cvt belt put on, which caused his top speed to go from 105km/65mph, down to 85km/53mph. This wouldn't have anything to do with it would it?

    Info:

    21k miles on the clock

    Thanks for reading.

Sounds like an air leak somewhere.

    Check all gaskets.

If somethings been changed it is usually the answer to the problem .I must admit this sounds like it is a fuel problem .Could be a gasket as already mentioned and somtimes jets although looking clean are not . But I reckon it is his drive belt slipping due to being too loose .
