hi guys just a quick question, im interested in buying a scooter to commute to and from uni as the bus is... well.. killing me, i have found quite a nice scooter but it all starts fine and rides fine for approx 200 yards, i then apparently goes into limp mode being a 2003 model could that be true? as it has a decent CDI unit? or is that a load of bull and the engine has been run without oil at one point? so it seizes when it warms up? please shed some light many thanks Sam
personally, I would run a mile from it, they are renown for electrical gremlins, especially on the ignition.
It's a shame, as the compressor, the super charged version made a whopping 19bhp, but with the problems associated with it, not worth the hassle. Wait until you see the prices of the spares, that can only be bought from Peugeot, cheaper to run a car.
the thing is its a steal at £200 and im quite mechanically experienced with scooters, motorcycles and cars... i recently built a rover metro with a 150bhp mechanicals, it seems electrical and i thought possible coil? thanks for your help guys
if you do buy it, make sure you get the red master key, as limp mode is a immobilizer problem, and only allows 2000 rpm, before cutting the ignition.
^^ thanks for your help, where is a good source of info about this scooter? there isnt much on the web much obliged
if this scooter doesnt come with the red key but it is the immobiliser issue would this solve the issue? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-S...cycle_Parts&hash=item27c07a7fcb#ht_815wt_1270 heres the video on the advert
that's something you need to research with the seller, I know for fact those by-passers work on speedfights, but your model is relatively unknown on the forums. I do know of some one who had problems, and he changed the lot, IIRC it was the transponder aerial on his. every so often on forums, some one comes up with the idea of buying one of these Jetforces with ignition problems, and people who are knowledgable about the immobilizers on Pugs always advise to steer clear, as they can cost a lot of money to put right. If it was a case of a plug and play by-pass, I wouldn't imagine that would be their advice, as they advise going for a different stator and wiring in a £10 CDI on regular problems, so they know their stuff.
