How do you clean up a used/drained petrol-tank properly enough - for safe/long term storage indoors?.
when we did a cg125 at work and the tank had to come off for a long time, the boss put petrol and petrol stabiliser in, emptied it when it went back on and put fresh fuel in, don't know if that helps? read somewhere about coating the inside of the tank aswell ?
Thanks for bringing that up,was'nt thinking about a later date when back in use. More along the lines of tank that's been emptied and aired out in the back/yard for some time...taking it indoors for storage (cupboatd)/explosive fumes build up..enclosed area).
ahh, we flush the tank through with petrol then put some coating liquid inside and swish it around, cant for the life of me remember what its called but it covers rust and stops any new rust aswell, got a bottle in shed, ill get the mrs to run out and get it when she gets here and ill post name of it, only cost me £3 and use the same stuff at work
When we need to weld up a steel tank, we put it over an exhaust pipe of a running car/bike and the exhaust fumes kill off the petrol fumes. About 10 mins should be long enough, this will get rid of all traces of fuel, then just leave to dry out.
