hiya folks this may sound like a daft question but i woke up this morning to find the scoot flooded to the hilt. petrol was slowly dripping from the exhaust manifold and the spark plug was wet threw. i took it out cleaned it up and dried it out and replaced it 4 or 5 times and it was just completely wet threw each time. i took the carb off and checked it was ok with the floats and that seemed ok so i took the petrol pipe off to find it was constantley letting petrol threw. now am i right in thinking the taps failed and it needs replacing ? ive never realy delt with these vacum pumps before and im not sure on how they work. the thing is i dont wanna start pissing about fitting a new tap and it leaking so i was wondering if i could get away with fitting an inline fuel tap. id feel much happier if one was fitted at least i know its off when i turn it off

Yeah your fuel tap has failed did you maybe put the pipes the wrong way round (on the tap) by accident?

Vacuum tube is at the bottom of the tap
    fuel is obvi above that

inline fuel taps..you'll have to block the vacuum intake on your carb..and when you DO forget to turn it off because you will eventually...you will be pissed coz your bike will be flooded again lol

my personal advice is to replace the vacuum there cheap..no forgetting to turn it off and they mostly only fail if something is done wrong i.e. fuel tube on the wrong way or blocked which is why im a bit sceptical about yours...easy to change, one screw where it connects to the tank..
it's up to you though mate i would only advise the manual if you were running premix

fitting an inline petrol tap will be fine m8 :good:

you could even hide the tap behind a panel, as an extra anti theft deterrent ;)
