hi im considering getting a performance exhaust to see if my bike goes any quicker is there anything apart from fitting it thats required e.g. jetting
just upjet a few sizes just fitting on a performance exhaust will cause the ped to run lean due to the scoot being able to breathe better and therefore rev harder also an adjustment in variator rollers would be required and possibly stiffer clutch springs also i would advise you stay away from mineral and cheap shit oil if you start changing parts standard scoots tend to run fine on any junk you put in them but start modding and the parts are under more stress (even with just a performance exhaust)
its in the garage now having rollers and belt replaced hopefully wont need lighter one and if it needs jetting shall i just go ten bigger than last one maybe ill put a new air filter on too like just sponge over the carb inlet
i think you are mentioning too much mate... he is just putting an exhaust not making a racing scoot... well you can do all those upgrades if ya want your scoot to go faster but when you change the exhaust all those arent needed...
unless he wants to come back complaining 'why does my scoot only ride well after 20 mph' or 'my scoot cut out and now wont start' then he would follow the advice of upjetting and changing rollers at the least and running shit oil is just false economy anyways your saying not all that needs to be done but you dont even say what you think needs to be done
yep shit oil is really bad for a 2 stroke... well when i got an exhaust for my nrg i just fitted it on and it worked fine... no problems at all!
i didnt even remember to mention rollers. you will definatly have to change the rollers to get the best from the new pipe as the rev range will have changed for peak power. with the stock rollers and new pipe you may find its slower then before until a certain speed. Stiffer clutch springs are ussually done at the same time too as you will loose bottom end power with a sports pipe. and lastly a 10% up jet is about right so itf its a 70 jet get a 77

no you dont alter the oil. and no thats not your jet. The main jet is in the carbs float bowl underneath the carb. undo 2 screws and the float lid comes away. in their will be 2 brass jets with flat heads in them to remove them. the main jet is the larger. you need to know the make of jet you need for your carb and find out what jet size is in their and add 10% to that
to find out the size it should be on the head of the jet. to find out the make of jet you need you need to know the carb make and possibly its model, should be on the carb somwhere or on the net if you search hard
