i Bought a katana ay50 off my mate for 150 because i like doing up mopeds , its wasnt working when i bought it , but it had 70cc borekit , 19mm carb, arrow exhaust and he gave me a new polini variator with it i had a idea of making it a rizla suzuki rep , i have got it working so far , but i bought new racing clutch , dobbler air filter , and new kevlar drive belt , carbon fiber reeds and also putting on the variator that i got with the moped , i have the rollers set the the heavy 1s for top speed , but it seems to only get to 25mph with all that stuff on it , lol , when my mate had it when it was working it went about 45 - 50 mph but the silly idiot put on a minimoto air filter and it broke thats why i have it. could this have something to do with the problem im having , if not does any1 hav any ideas of what it could be ?
How do people do the rizla graphics ive always wondered? Do you just spray it a light blue and get some custom decals made at a graphics shop?
sorry who are you? http://scootershack.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=3 a short answer to your question is heavier rollers dont increase top speed, so theyre probably restricting the revs, along with the fact you havnt set the carb up properly and jetted it to suit all the modifications, even if those mods do include an arrow exhaust.
decals i bought the decals already made off of ebay but i sprayed the pannels light blue myself, and sorry i just registerd , i was needing help with my moped problem and found this site can any1 help me?
Yeah basically what swift said...your rollers could be too heavy!! Also you need to up-jet for a Doppler filter as well..about 8-10 sizes over stock main jet size!!
jetting carb cheers mate with the variator i got 2 sets of rollers should i give the lighter 1s a try , i didnt think i would have 2 up jet the carb because it is a bigger 1 than the standerd 1 its a 19mm malossi http://www.donotlink-pedstop.co.uk << this is the site i got the parts from
u got ripped off then just saw the malossi sport 70 kit i ordered on there for £90 quid not including postage. it was £75 on scooter-center thats with postage
Depends wether the carb came jetted for a std airbox or open filter!!! sometimes the carb kits come with 2 main jets for the above reason!! And yeah try the lighter rollers...And if they are too light try 3 of each spaced out 1 heavy 1 light 1 heavy and so on
i never bought the kit or carb or exhaust and variator i got all that included with the moped so i recon i got a bargin because i bought it for 150
ok mate ill try the lighter rollers , i think the carb was jetted for the standerd airbox , what size of jets do you think i should get
For now you could put the std airbox back on and see if that improves things!! And i would get the rollers sorted 1st before you worry about jetting....its no good trying to re-jet if the rollers are too heavy
i done what you said i changed the rollers to the lighter 1s i put on the racing exhaust as well but it doesnt start now , what is awrong with it
Well its difficult to say...but rollers wont affect the bike starting!!! whip the plug out and clean it up....then check for a spark
i checked the spark and its a good spark , i found the instructions for the 19mm carb and it has a pic of the standard air box on it , the reason i didnt read the instructions is because i am not italian or can read italian, i have put back on the standard air box but it seems to be doing the same thing , i took the spark plug out and it was coverd it petrol so i must be flooding its self , (it floods with the dobbler filter on ) , unfortunatly it is only kickstart for now does any1 know why its flooding and wont start ?
checked them , there ok its new reeds that is in carbon malossi 1s , and yes it is the right plug, can you think of anything else it could be ?
