heey all! im wanting a old style open faced helmet, but i cant find any with a visor in a style i like, does anyone have one? how is it to ride with it compleatly open faced? i only have a 50cc so cant go to fast, are bugs and wind a issue? thanksss xo
please dont get a open faced helmet ! if you come off you will mess your face up big time, "i only have a 50cc and cant go too fast" it doesnt matter if youre wearing a open faced helmet when you come off you will mess up your face, want some proof? there you go. i cut + grazed parts of my face when i crashed my vision and i was wearing a full face, if you want wind in your face etc get a flip up but dont get a open faced !
oh thats aweful! it says you were wearing a full face or no matter what this kinda thing will happen if i fall off?! :/
No ones seized the opportunity of a cheesy comment yet?! ...You wouldn't wanna ruin that beautiful face with an open faced helmet, always go for a full face
not all the time, i was unlucky i had my visor open at the time but a full face helmet will offer alot more protection than a open face, if you fall off unless your wearing the right gear your going to get roadrash etc and you dont want that, get a good jacket + gloves + full face helmet
i just think i will feel hot a sweaty in the summer with a full face? + my hair is gonna make me even hotter! :/
ride with visor open or get a flip up, its honestly not too bad, my mrs rides aswell, wears full face and she has no issues in regards to getting hot and sweaty, just rides with visor open when needs be but never has visor fully down, just leaves a finger gap
Done a lot if miles on the road Jade , Used alot of different style helmets, Here's an example of what the road surface could like with your face wearing a fully open helmet. Not going fast could be worse on the skin - in an accident as you'll have more of a tenency to slide instead of skid over things!.mark.
This thread is making me think about my helmet.... or I was getting fed up with chating to the police, as my scooter laccked an accesory most have around here. If the cops can see my face they leave me alone, its obviuos by my age i dont need Lplates.. But this has got me thinking again...
End of the day, Ride with what you! feel competant enough with!, According to your experience, Always thinking about my helmet, When riding. .
there are so many different skid lids to choose from these days. ive got a nitro one full face which has extra vents on the top, at the back, the front and under the visor, its pretty good at cooling during the summer. Have you thought about perhaps a motoX lid? they have full face protection but loads of space under the chin for air to flow. but as mentioned above a full face is better than no face!
I have a roof Boxer. It's a good compromise between open and full IMO. Flips up so you can use it all year round without the sweating in summer and steamy visor in winter and the chin part has alot of room behind it so even when it's down it's not as enclosed as a full face and air can still circulate. I've had a couple of bugs hit me but they don't get squashed like they do on windscreens etc lol and just blow away. I use the visor when there's lots of flies about and stuff and it works very well. I'd highly recommend it for around town. If you're doing high speeds it's probably better to go for a full face on tho tbh I don't get why everyone is saying they're unsafe riding stuff with two wheels is quite unsafe in itself incase you hadnt noticed.. And there are open and flip helmets out there that have higher safety ratings than some full face ones Everyone I've talked to who has gone for a flip helmet says they wouldn't really consider a full face again for what it's worth.. Open ones are good in summer but that's about it
I'd rather sweat like a virgin in a brothel wearing a full face than ruin my face that was evidently carved by god! ( I wish ) Jade I think you'd much rather sweat abit and remain a good looking lass with canny hair than have a face looking like its gone through a wood chipper!
open face in the rain is like been hit with a thousand nails at the same time even at 20mph. and as other point out there a total dead trap if you drop it. i think the numbers are something like your unprotected skin and bone will been ground away at a rate of 15mm per 10mph so at 30mph, 45mm of skin/bone would remove your nose and the front or your jaw would be gone if you went down face first
cockers, a face by god. if only we were all so lucky my mate said he came off his bike within a week of owning it (125) the fullf face helmet worked a treat, and the visor was scratched to hell and back. i will never buy an open face. currently got a flip up, but dont ride with it up and try to have the visor down as much as possible (steams me up abit at traffic lights)
