My scooter has started being a little bit hit and miss starting off the electric start. The oil light comes on, I've topped the oil up but it's still doing it. Could it be the spark plug? That's the only thing I haven't changed.
Need a few more details. I take by your sig its a Speedfight 100 you're talking about. When was the spark plug changed. The oil light you are mentioning does this come on whilst the bike is running?
Yeah it's a speedfight 100, im not sure when the sparkplug was last changed. I only bought the scooter in march. It's had a new relay, starter motor and battery this month so it was starting ok till now. No the light only comes on when I'm starting it up, once it's started it goes off.
That is normal with any car or bike. The light should extinguish shortly after the ignition is on or when it starts. For cars/4T bikes it is to show low oil pressure and for 2T's it is to show the oil level. Don't worry about it just check the oil is getting to the carb. I would change the spark plug anyway, 1 as a process of elimination and secondly because you don't know when it was last changed. I'd get 2 and keep one under the seat. Let us know how you get on.
I changed the spark plug and it starts perfectly now. However when I did it I couldn't get the scooter to stop running, I had to disconnect the battery. I changed the ignition relay and it's all fine again. Thanks for your help!
