    Hi there,
I bought an NRG recently for 350 pound, a bargain I though for an NRG that
goes 65-70, I had 68 out of it down my long road and as I bought it the kid that sold it ne
told me about the problems with a water pump, I believe it's broken.
As I start up the engine I can hear the water pump, it makes a wierd noise, It starts first time rungs well, however when it gets too hot it cuts out. I stick my finger in the liquid container and its still cold so either the radiator or the water pumps broken I rung up local dealers to fix the water pump and they said it would cost me 250-360 pound, I havent got that money and I'm not sure if its the water pump or not, everything runs well except that problem, this lets my scooter down.

I need to know how to convert LC to Air cooled if possible please. (I heard it is cheaper)
Or I would like to know how to do it myself, yes I know you need to split the engine in half but is there any other methods? and how to check its defently the water pump?

Sorry I'm a newbie at scooters,

    thanks for your help.

sounds like your thermostat isnt opening to me ;)

also just as a precaution, check the little water pump drive belt is still in place, it lives behind the variator :D

Alright I'll try that in the morning,
also as I cleaned out the pipes, all dirty brown/yellowish water come out,
as I was blowing through the pipes I could feel the water pump turning,
does that mean it works or something other than water pump is prevending
    it from cooling?

well im not sure how you would feel the water pump turning, by blowing air through the engine..

but lets just say you could, that would mean the impeller (the plastic wheel) was free wheeling,

which to me would be further evidence that the belt had snapped/come adrift somehow ;)

    heres the belt in question:

Also how can I fix the thermostat?
do I have to check all the wiring?

How can I tell if the little belt is gone, and by thermostat isn't opening, you mean by the rev counter to tell me the heat? because mine's not working as we speak.

    i had the same problem
got told that you have to repair the water pump inside the engine, and well i couldnt be arsed to go get myn split so i brought a working engine for 20 quid off ebay (Y)

could be an option if you can find a cheap running engine.

check the belt by LOOKIONG at it.. is it in place, is it in one peice? its fine... thermostat you just take out and try it... (its in the head) ac conversion is as easy as bolting an ac barrel onto your engine.

i would also check your head gasket!
if theres alot of bubbles happening while the engine in running in your water bottle i would seriously check your headgasket as mine went the same way.
and is there like, brown clumps in your water bottle ?

i took the variatior off and checked the little belt behind it, it seems fine and everything behind the casing look well.

I will buy a manual soon just need guidance sorry to bother.

My moped makes a wierd loud noise almost as I hear the water or w/e the noise is comming from the magnito place, shall I take it off and have a look and is it risky to tamper and try to split the engine myself?

    ty.

take the little pipe off the right side of the engine. (will dump all the water from the engine) then with the engine off (obviously) turn the flywheel clockwise and look in the hole to see if the little impellar is spinning...
