Got my Stage6 Pro rep pipe fitted today, changed the jet from a 52 to a 60...it doesn't kick in untill 8000 RPM

    Other mods:

    Malossi vario
    Malossi belt
    Malossi filter (in box)

Maybe I need lighter rollers? It currently has 6.1 in I was thinking 5.5? And would harder clutch springs help?

    Cheers

lighter rollers dont touch the clutch untill you have tested it with the lighter rollers id say around 5.5gr is about right i had more or less the same set up as your nrg on a aerox with 5.5gr rollers in and the thing flew for a 50cc

What about the contra spring? And clutch springs?

contra spring and clutch springs only really need to be looked at if you are using a 70cc bore kit every 50cc scooter i have had and just put a exhaust and variator on iv just upjetted the carb and changed the rollers and never encountered any problems

tried changing the spark plug , hold the throttle open and kick it over is the plug wet , check for a spark , get a compression tester and check engine compression

Disagree. With a pretty 'pipey' pipe like the Stage 6 (no torque at low revs) I'd say you'd do well to put the stiffest springs in there you can find.
You only need to change the contra spring if you find yourself needing lighter rollers and you're already at 6 rollers of 2.8 grams each. The it's time to get a stiffer spring.

If I were you I'd have a look at the transmission and try to see if everything is alright. Then I'd have the cylinder off it & check the crank. It sounds suspiciously like a big end bearing is on the way out -
    I hope I am wrong.
    Plug looks fine -

I hope it's just the rollers being too heavy or not hard enough clutch springs, it proper bogs tho when i go near the throttle :(

Sorry - I can't edit posts on this computer. Who fitted the variator ? What is the coplete set up ? What air filter are you using ?
How far have you actually ridden the scoot and did it make that noise from the get-go or did it suddenly start making it at a certain point ?
Sorry to ask so many questions -

It's cool, I did :) it was fine before the exhaust was fitted, yep all there and a malossi sponge in the airbox, a good 1500+ miles since I brought it in March-April time

Did you tighten the variator completely ?
I would say yes - get some stiffer clutch springs - and maybe you are a bit poor - and maybe a bit heavy on the rollers.
You did use the right size rollers in the variator (silly question).

Yes mate was done with a air gun, awesome and yeah they were right sizes.

Hmm. I'd take off the variator and have a twiddle of the crank to see if I could feel any play at the big end - then - all being well - reduce the roller weight.
    Good luck-

Maybe your ignition bell/rotor was working loose (noise) and then it came off completetly/enough not to work.
Daft hypothesis - but I've seen it happen......

I think I need to change the jet, got a feeling the 60 might be a wee bit too big so going to try and 58 at some point! :)

how is a main jet stopping your scooter from sparking ? id look into the bikes electrics as turbovetto said check the ignitions magneto or bolt that holds is to the ignition fly wheel has not come loose because if it has it would of knocked the ignition timing out either causing it to missfire or not spark at all , also it may be as something as simple as changing your spark plug if the bike as been running really rich it would of knackard the electrode on the plug with over fueling and oil for the sake of 3 quid for a new plug worth a try if that's a fail then move on to the ignition coil / cdi unit / ht lead and cap , and the wires that go to it , a multi meter is a great tool for electrics and is must in my eyes when tackling electrics , and even if the main jet is too big it would not stop the bike from starting if it was over fueling to much it would piss out the carbs overflow pipe and splutter when the throttle is pulled back , so i think your issue goes a little bit more than jetting

and that knocking noise is either the drive belt hitting the transmission case , the variators backing plate as worked loose causing the rollers to jump about , the variator nut has worked loose , or your worse case scenario big end bearings
