NRG setting up?

    Hey guys, bit stumped. Yesterday I put a PM foam filter on my bike, and tweaked the mixture needle - the bike took off from still like a rocket, and it has never run like that. I started to notice how quick it was revving when I had the bike up on the stand, it was revving to 9k in under a second. But it needs som serious setting up, so I hope you don't mind if i ask a few questions.

    The bike refused to go over quarter throttle or it bogged, after tweaking maybe 30 times. I managed to get it up a hill, and came back down it on quarter throttle, and it reached 50 no prblem at all, but by then I was comming back into the village and had to slow down.

    I figured this was because it was getting too much air, so I kept tweaking the needle out further and further.. but nothing emerged. My dad then said to down jet it.. which I thought was silly.. I thought it needed more petrol.. and he told me to go down a jet size? So I reluctantly went down from and 85 to a 75 jet - and now the bike is acting like when i put the stock airbox on. It sits there and will rev up to about 5k, smoking it's little heart out. And if you try and ride it, you'll be doing a flitstones.

    I was hoping that it was the jet, but I knew it wasn't. I was hoping because my bike has ridiculous fuel consumption. I have to fill it up every journey I take, and that means stick another £4.00 - £6.50 in it, and watching it burn away.

    I checked the spark before I started doing all this, and anyone could tell that it was running rich as. Dark black plug, a little moist - This really doesn't help fuel consumptionn or my bike.

    I also need to get a 70cc kit for the bike, I was looking in to getting a Polini, as they seem to be the cheapest. Ebay can get lost on this one, I'll be dammed if i'm going to buy some unbranded polish crap. The PM ones don't looks bad either, and are only a little more expensive.

    So, what do you think?

    change your rollers, read the guide and do a search next time befor you post.

    If it's revving up too fast try heavier rollers - if you didn't put the original rollers in yourself then be sure to weigh them. A mate picked a ped up the other night & had 3 completely different roller weights in!

    my runner seem to do very much the same, shoots of like a rocket them dies out, and will ride at half revs mybe but boggs at full

    my ice is very similar to this atm and will only run on choke an when started ticks over for a few seconds then it starts to increase revving rapidly.
    its got a new polini 70cc kit on it the same as it had before when it ran sweet, also my rollers and belt are worn would this cause it to run like this???

    Yes & yes but maybe not to a point that you've described? But your rollers may have flat spots & not engage properly plus if your belts worn then it may be slipping which doesn't help.

    increase in revs my be due to your pin being rong try move up.. down

    you said you lowered the jet when you put a performance air filter on shouldnt you higher it
