Im picking up a 2005 nrg mc3 a/c from my mate next week, in really good nick not been abused and got performance parts. But he finds then we he pusheds it to 55/60 mph on the flat for a LONG period of time, it tends to overheat. Is there anyway of preventing this, as if i put a 70big bore on it, wont it overheat more regularly, i dont want it siezing?
some checks you can do: make sure the plastic cover is still over the cylinder, some people remove these beleiving it will keep the engine cooler, but it has the opposite effect... make sure the fan shroud isnt blocked in any way, and the fan its self isnt damaged... make sure it hasnt had a sports pipe and/or a filter fitted without upjetting, this will cause it to run leaner and hotter... and finally air cooled engines do run hotter after prolonged periods of fast running...thats why they invented liquid cooled engines
I have a 2004 model and have put an Airsal 70 alu kit on it,It runs cooler now as the alu cylinder displaces the heat better. Paul
