    hi
i derestricted my nrg dd, i took out the variator washer, took piece of metal in the airbox tube, and put on a technigas exhaust (not good i know, but was free) and started jetting it properly. Started with a 62 jet and it was too high, so worked my way down to a 58 jet which made the spark plug a light brown. I then took the rollers from my SR50 (where i had the technigas exhaust on) The SR50 ran perfectly on this (also piaggio engine)

The NRG ran really well for the first week, was quick, didnt bog down at all, and just ran perfectly, but slowly over this week it has gotten slower, and has started bogging.

i changed the clip on the carb needle (put it down 1 notch, it was origanally on the top notch) and it has made it a little better, but it still bogs down and isnt as quick. But sometimes it will pull away decently.

Any ideas what the problem is? im sure the rollers and jetting is spot on, i dont know why it has deteriated over the past week.

what made you think 62 was too high ? was it four stroking?

light brown is a bit risky, you want a darker brown. The weather has got colder in the last week, all you modders should of upjetted 1-2 sizes, to compensate for the more compact/dense air, especially if you have jetted on the edge for performance in better weather.

i have the nrg power dt got a loe vince zx pipe on it and jetted to 65 which was a little rich so down jetted to a 62 and its spot on with the air box on and the 50 barrel.
that plate you have removed from the air box/carb is NOT a restrictor and is needed to direct the right amount of air flow to the idle and pilot jet the jet you have changed to a 58 only comes into play above half revs and sounds a bit small to me as the standard size is 53

This was quite a while ago now. I put the plate back into the pipe just before the carb and it ran much better. 58 was the correct jet size.

Have you changed exhaust Sam? If you have did you change the rollers and upjet when you did this?

When you upjet you should do a plug chop to see whether its running right. if you ride the bike full throttle for around 30 seconds, then switch off the ignition, the spark plug should be a cappucino colour if that jet is the correct size. If the main jet is too big, it will blacken quickly, or if its too small it will start to go white.
