fitted the Stage 6 Streetrace kit to my NRG today, started after a few kicks, exhaust wasnt in properly so i cut it out after a few secs, after i sorted that i started it again, let it idle for about 4 mins and went out, revved a little to see if it moved, and it did, went about 10m, let off the throttle and it cut out, since it cut out it's not starting, have 1 bar of fuel and my 2stroke is pretty low, could it just be that? or something else? help please!
Took it to the bike shop and they helped get it started, cleaned the carb, jets, and we drained the fuel tank, there was a little bit of water in it and some crap, after that it started. Got some fuel after that, and went for a ride, about 2miles in it cut out, started again first time, another 2 miles later it done the same.. it started bogging at about 13 miles so i got some fuel and stopped for about 10 minutes, after that it was starting, but the throttle kept bogging so it wouldnt idle. After that at around 15 miles i couldnt get over 25mph, it would bog and there wouldnt be any power in the throttle and it would randomly come back again. so that's my problem - bogging at 25mph/randomly. Today i tried to start it and it won't start, i've checked the petrol in the carb by draining a little bit and it seems fine, changed the main jet from 86 to 78, took off airbox (wouldnt start with it or without). So it's a fuel/carb related problem, any suggestions?
still no luck, honestly i don't know what it could be. Getting 110 psi compression, blasted the carb with air, checked my fuel, it's still not starting! 30 views there must be someone willing to help?
if its starting with the air box off but still bogging . try a new air filter the old may be the old filter is completely blocked
I bet the air filter is soaked with water and blinded. Dry it out with some paper towel and try again. Running without an air filter may make the engine run with a weak fuel mixture and that's not good for a 2-stroke. It could also be incorrect float height, which was an issue that Yampiedog had. Check out his "Scooter won't rev" thread.
not starting with it on or off yep it's abit oily, havent had the chance to clean it but i will, i'll also look at that thread
it's a possibility that the float height as been altered by accident, is the adjustment in the same place as the one on the video in that thread? Just want to find out before i go to sleep cause the ped is at work so i need to make sure i know what i'm doing
Yeah, just check that you can blow through into the float bowl with the carb the right way up, and not with it upside down, showing that the needle is doing it's job of preventing the carb from overflowing. A very small bend downwards on that tab that the needle is fastened to can make a world of difference in how the float bowl and carb performs.
