Hi, everyone! I recently put my Yamaha YP 250 Majesty (2001) back on the road after a two year layoff. The reason that I stopped using it was that the drivebelt broke, and I didn't get time to attend to it. I bought a new belt and fitted it recently, then took it for its MoT. All fine there. The problem is that its really slow to pick up speed from a move-off, and that is a prob in the hilly area I live in. Its fine once it gets to about 15 mph, taking about 30 yds to do that on the flat. Does anyone have any suggestions for this prob (I'm already losing weight hahahaha!), please? Den, Swansea.
The belt needs to wear in probabaly. in 100 miles or so there may be a difference, that or the rollers in the variator may be worn and need replacing.
oh man i know your pain, i lived in swansea, damn some of those hills, i once got pulled over for "accelerating too hard" up mount pleasant..... coming out of the uni up the top its like 90 degrees!
Wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the rollers anyway, the other cause could be that when you replaced the belt, you let a roller slip and it is stuck at the top of the ramp instead of down the bottom.
