Right everyone im buying a KTM 125 exc for my birthday and there road registered, but this one isn't on road does anyone know how to get it on the road do i have to send off for a log book , etc In need of URGENT help
pretty sure it will have to be sva tested. ring dvla and they will tell you everrything you need to know
funni enuf i looked in to this for a pit bike not so long ago you got two ways of doing it both pery much the same but a lil diffrent 1 you need to make sure that the wheel and the exshuat is road legal then make sure the power of the bike does not have a power more the 14 bhp other wise it will need a restriction have to be done by a mechancic then you have to take it to the dvla for a exstenive tast cant rember what is called but basicly a long mot test then you have to insure the bike and that bang it in for mot get it tax off you go 2 you can have it for day use for like day time mot easyer way for the time beening but a pian in the ass try to make the plods understand or you can get the normal one but you need lights and all that to pass it of course but the way i was gonna do it id day mot first then later nite but things allways change so make sure you chack with dvla oh just to let you no for a orion 125 pit bike its was gonna cost me 700 and mine had a elec start so it had the altinator most of the wiring loom. but for ktm parts you easy looking in to the 1000s there not cheap at all even to to replace parts either bike that i know of that are reali expensive when it comes to replacing parts are huskys and ktm there are a few other cant rember them but them to seem to be the most expensive out of all bikes i was gonna get a husky for reapirs but way too much for the parts so i asked about the other bikes he said these two were the most expensive but that wat he said (tbh if you want to ride a crosser on the road get one that is save alot of money) also if the panels look brand new dont get it some one i know he races them raggied bear in mind he take off the panels when he starts to get signs of prob he put new panls on so look like new and put i have hardly ride it but we know it not ture i dont agress with it but o well what can i do so be carfull
but if your like me and cant afford it right up in payment then this way would be the best way to do it since you can buy it in bits but i would still but a repaires on that already on road and get it into garage get it fix prob be cheaper and less expensive but either way you will have to bang it into garage anyways just incase of problem allways best to get it servied and checked
Converting a Pitbike is 10 times easyier then converting a proper crosser for road use. You basiclly use Monkey bike parts to convert a pitbike, a offroad crosser is gonna be harder to find parts that fit. And then theres the power, a KTM 125 has well over 14bhp.
that what i was saying but im sure there a simler bike to this one that is on road and take parts from that but i also said it will need a restictor kit probs get one fited from main dealer also the pit bike is better off with a cub 90 wiring loom with after market indies and lights al of the speedo i didnt get that far lol but like i said it not worth puting the money into it either because it would take tousands
you need a MSVA/SVA, ask a trike builder about it, and you are likely to get a load of verbal......... the fees aren't cheap either, and you have to get the vehicle to one of their testing stations, which there are only about twenty in the U.K. Those testers are red hot, it's not like a MOT, if there is anything sus, you are failed. Of course if you get it right, and know what you are doing, and prepare the bike properly, you can only pass.
