Hi, I'm currently assembling my Runner 180SP -03, and after the first startup, I got to wonder about the normal operation temp in idle engine speed, what is that? In celsius that is.. I'm not sure my temperature gauge is working correctly, that's why I'm asking. The thermostat is to open between 69.5 - 72.5C according to the Haynes manual. At what temp does the cooling fan start? Should I be able to touch the cylinder body with my hand without "burning"? Should I be able to touch the radiator with my hand without "burning"? Probably not.. but I'm not sure.. that's why I'm asking.. Kind regards, Kristoffer
As you say, the stat open's at 69-72c, this is the ideal working temp on most engines. The fan won't cut in until about 90 ish deg c, so yes the skull cap/barrel/rad will be hot. To test rad fan, you'd need to keep the rev's up and keep an eye on the temp guage until it kick's in.
