On the news this morning..... Porsche reveal the very 1st vehicle designed by Ferdinand Porsche in 1898- it was electric...................... .
When you look at it, the problems with electric look very tame compared with internal combustion. it's a battery thing. M obile phones have solved all that....
Often wonder myself, how some (what could be revolutionary) methods of improving transport, particularily in the field of cars- have actually been held back ala mainstream manufacturers buying rights ,in order to protect their interests an not neccesarily the consumer.?.
my grandfather inn law has an electric car, i used it a few times, its suprisingly good considering its made in china, has ac motor, and a proper differential, very smart, the ac controller blew up tho, but he got another one.
Would think, not alot of people would consider an electric vehicle, from the prospective of not actually 'knowing' them., combustion vehicles per say, have been in the mainstream for so long, that people can associate their design+function easily.due to information that has filter through via general knowledge of consistent daily use., My own thought would run along the lines of power supply, durability, servicing, costs, etc.
his is very cheap, charge time is 8 hours but you get about 40km on that if you are careful, plus electric vehicles have the amazing torque that you will never get with conventional engines
its the distance problem, again you don't trust it to make the whole journey, and what happens if you run out of battery on the motorway
solar panels? i know they have come a long way in recent years, they dont even need direct sunlight now
They don't need a lot of sunlight they can even produce a charge under moonlight. The problem is they produce almost zero charge under these conditions. I used to build solar panels at home, sort of a hobby of mine.
