I've bought a boatian that needed some plastics and air box. The seller said because the air box was missing the moped was very slow. So I've bought and installed one. When I pull the throttle back the engine just stalls now. Any ideas what's wrong? Thanks.
It ticks over fine, if I lift the rear wheel off the ground I can gently bring the revs up and when it gets so far it starts to get sluggish and eventualy the engine dies.
Loads of possibilitys. Dump the fuel out the tank. New fuel, check manifold for leaks, check reed petals. Got compression? Good spark? New plug.
Yeah it's a standard air box and to be honest I haven't checked if there's a filter in it or not. Because I've bought a second hand one I just thought it would have one in it. I will check tomorrow.
There is a filter in the box. You know the right lever, I have to press in to start the bike. Is that also the clutch? It's not a ringing as a clutch, the drive is always at the rear wheel. I wondering if it needs bleeding? If I hold the rear wheel off the ground I can now rev through the problem but as soon as I sit on the moped the engine dies when I try to rev and ride.
Is your bike a 4stroke? Right lever is the front brake, left is the rear brake. Make sure the bike rolls fine and brakes are not draging. There are some youtube clips on how to derestrict boatin 85cc 4stroke. Your clutch springs may be fukd and too week to hold the clutch shoes off of the bell.
It's a 49cc The right lever has no pressure that's why I thought it may be a clutch. When the engine is running I have to put the brake on to stop it moving forward. When I try and roll the bike backwards while the engine is running, it's quite hard. If I switch it off it rolls backwards easy.
It's the carb mate, needs cleaning, drain the fuel tank, clean the carb and then check it had this problem before
