Hi, haven't posted here in a while, so basically I've got a yamaha jog r 2004 and my speedo/display isn't working along with the electric start button etc... This is only when the key is turned and the engine isn't running. The bike still starts via kick-start and the display, brakelights and indicators all start working. Could I be right in thinking I have a bad battery?

sounds like battery to me, also try checking your main fuse, its the little fuse next to the battery...

Fuse is fine,I've checked for continuity, battery only at like 12,3v and when it's charging from the stator it's like 13.5v. One thing I noticed is that the oil level check light only flickers when I turn the bike off too.

Check what your battery goes down to voltage wise when you try to start

It's all good now, turns out I had no continuity from the battery or ignition switch to the speedo/display so I got the loom out and soldered it back and I gave the battery a good charge. So just like magic the display is alive again.
