    Folks,

I'm a first-time scooter owner, coming from the world of bigger bikes. I've just got my first scooter, a 2000 Neos 50 (2T), which is my second 2T bike.

Ive just stripped it and am rebuilding, having done a very rough restoration. The entire front end however, is past saving. The steerer tube, top clamp and forks are a huge mess of corrosion, and it's only a matter of time before a fork cap fails and I need to replace the lot.

How interchangeable is the front end with that of other, similar scooters?

Any suggestions re how it should be replaced? I'm tall, heavy and ride it pretty hard.

    Thanks,

    Niall

maybe better to grab a second hand yamaha yn50f frame if the steerer tube is shot out.
not sure if the yamaha aerox steerer tube could be transplanted thats a YQ50 frame but im not sure on the difference between the two

Sorry, maybe my terminology's wrong, the head tube on the frame is OK, it's the steering tube which is attached to the fork crown that is corroded. I am looking to replace just the forks and this tube (which the head bearing cup screws onto), not part of the frame.

If I got the front forks from an Aerox or similar, would there be problems with getting bearings to fit, or are they all a standard size?

    TIA
