New variator...anything required so it doesnt die?

Going to be fitting one of these:

Before I do this, is there anything extra that must be done while fitting it so I dont fuck up my bike?

Your link dont work mate, But if your fitting a new uprated variator some rollers for fine tuning would be a good start
