I just got a new runner 172 its a pretty standard 172 i have really drove it a lot but i realised it is very difficult to push for some reason i dont know if it might be the brakes rubbing or not and when i throttle it stays still i have to pretty much full throttle it to move so any ideas on what the problem is wud really be apprecitaed :good:

    thanks in advance

try moveing each wheel off the ground to see which is causeing the problem. sounds like a fucked caliper to me tbh.

i wouldnt say brakes... as with the power of a 172 cylinder it would move when revved regardless.. That makes me think... check your drive belt and clutch.. when you got crank case off spin the auto clutch (one closest to rear wheel) and see if your back wheel spins if so then proceed to checking brakes (which i doubt it is).. if the wheel dont move but the clutch does then ur gearbox has gone

You might be ok to just clean up the piston/s with a toothbrush (might be able to use wire wool just be careful not to damage the piston) and brake cleaner if it's not too bad and the seals aren't mullered.

Yes i agree with marty.. take off the caliper and clean the pistons and use some oil to make sure they can move freely.. If pistons have siezed then spray with a lubricant wd40 or aquivelent and play about with the brake level and see if they free off.. on one of my old bikes it was scraping.. it turned out the pistons wasnt in line cause of a air lock in the caliper between the 2 pistons... hopefully u might not have to uy a new one all for the sake of 30mins worth of fiddlin haha
