Hi, I have just bought a pollini hi speed variator for my gilera dna 50. It seems that the rear roller plate seems deeper than stock and therefore when I get to the kick start washer it only just sits on the splines? I suppose the main nut should squeeze it all together but it also appears that the two pulley faces are too far apart and the stock belt just sits on the centre spindle with a couple of mm space from the plates? Is this normal with the pollini variator meaning I would need a wider belt? Surely the plates should squeeze the belt even at the very bottom?
Any advice re pollini variators welcomed.
Can anyone tell me the correct dimensions for the gilera dna pulley belt so I can check my belt is correct, thanks

NO, the belt should slip nicely between the vario faces.
If it was tight up against the faces then you wouldn't get any acceleration before moving would you.

Fair enough, my stock variator and belt set up seemed far tighter, the variator plates already tight to the belt at the bottom and the belt was snug to fit on. This pollini variator back plate won't touch the belt until its travelled in a few mm and the belt slipped on easier. Maybe the old set up was the issue then?

Have you missed a spacer behind the variator?

Have you opened the rear pulleys/torque driver to to slip the belt down before fitting the front pulley back on ?
