    hi all,
i am selling my speedy 2 i dont really like the ped and performance wise its crap. i am thinking of either buying a runner, aerox or an aprilla sr. what do you guys think is the best ped to go for. i am also going to add performance parts to the bike, which bike is best for this and which 1 will show the best results after being modified.

basically whcih bike is quickest when modified?

    cheers all blue_paul

have a look at the tuning guides, and make a search for the ped!

I think the runner is an aquired taste, you eithier love them or hate them, I am not too fussed on them but you can make them look sweet like capridaves on here and performance wise - theyre supposed to be rather the same as a rox, they have a water cooled engine so you can thrash them a bit more than say a typh or a JOGr

the aerox is definately my choice as they usually are very quick even with little modifications done to them, theyre fairly easy to wheely but handle exellent but look the dogs bollocks with a new nice mods on them, common faults are the speedo cable snapping, the auto choke is shit (i think) on the newer ones and the forks can develop problems more often than others, the engine the aerox uses is very very very good.

the aprilia sr50 on the other hand is divided, I found the earlier ones to be more reliable (pre 2000), as they use a caburettion system and the same engine as a rox. the newer ones tend to get you more MPG's, they look very very nice on the outside but aprilia parts are renouned for being quite expensive, the parts are harder to get and theres less available for the newer ones. the newer ones that use the di-tech system or direct injection in laymans terms can be ridicously expensive to go wrong and harder to set up than a carb as they rely on ECU mapping, much like a car

out of the three I would tend to go for the aerox, but skip the high "yamaha quality" cost and buy a second hand MBK nitro which will be much cheaper but exactly the same bike wise, try and get a nice one between x reg - 53 plate with manual choke, theyre fairly cheap and great fun and pretty quick too!

for an instant boost at the lowest price buy eithier a good 70cc cast iron kit or an exhaust if you dont want the fitting issues that a 70 kit can offer, however the 70 kit will need to be overjetted or a bigger carb and will have to be run in

other people will tell you different but as a first choice get a laser x pro or something similar power wise and trust me, you will notice the difference!

Aerox / Nitro would be the one to get. Parts are cheap and easy to get hold off. They are well known bikes and the reliability of them is great. As Josh said if you get one try and get a manual choke version. In the winter it will be easier to start up and you can get 04/05 models with manual choke!

Ive read on the net somewhere that mbk made the nitro, ovetto (yam calls neo's), stunt (yam calls slider) and others

yamaha copied mbk designs under their permission, and ended up buying out MBK

so when your buying your aerox your actually buying MBK quality but for some reason the MBK named bikes are cheaper

Nope no difference. I think if you go way back...... Yamaha out bought them or something. All the parts on the aerox have MBK on them. Yamaha just put there sickers on the front and call it "Yamaha Aerox". Brand new theres a price difference of £300-£500. But second hand they are around the same price.

MBK were set up in France by Yamaha to get around the exportation limits imposed by the Japanese government. Therfore Yamaha could still export the large demand of the bigger CC bikes rather than cutting back for scooter exports.

    always one isnt there lol..

runners are fucking comftable to ride and go ride really well.

i own an aerox good things are they have a good engine, look the bollocks, and go pretty fast for a 50. they are not as luxurious as the runner tho, and obviously this is my opinion and not being biassed as i own a rox.

the sr50 sound like a fuck about if you got money, i wouldnt touch one with a 10ft barge poll (dunno where i can get one from) repair wise.

    another 2cent from me darren.
