ok so my transmission is setup as follows. this is on an aerox 70 cc 21mm carb etc. standard variator brand N|EW 3.2g malossi rollers brand new malossi x special belt stage 6 cnc drive standard clutch blue malossi springs . i noticed that the belt sits reall tight between the outer pulley and the variator. i know that its to do with spacing but how can i create more room so that the belt isnt being pinched by the variator and outter pully my electric start if fucked so is there anyway i can take the starter plate out or is that a big no no!!
forgot to add that i can tell that the belt is being rubbed/pinched becuase at about 25 mph when the bike starts change gear the revs drop. its sort of like too heavy rollers but then the revs pick up and drop again.
install the belt as you normally would (get slack on the clutch and put it on the front) then reassemble and start trhe bike. run it up the road then take the cover off... if the belt sits fully down on the variator and all the way out on the clutch its sitting as it should... if theres space on the clutch (the belt could move up further) you need to reduce the thickness of any part sitting behind the backplate of the variator... id hasen a guess that aerox's have undersized variators as stock hence the malossi belts sit prouder (being thicker) i still cant see them making a blet that ISNT the same as the stock one, it makes no sence to do such a thing unless its sold wiht a variator. but ye, if the belt hits the top and bottom of both clutch pulleys and variator pulleys its doing as it should and any adverse effect from fitting the thicker belt should be compensated with roller weight.. chances are there undersized tho and malossi belts are made to run on the variators (basing it on the assumption that malossi see the variator as a restriction,. only reason the belt would be different) need an aerox guy to answer this one really.
ok minor solved the problem. put the standard belt back in. i noticed when i was taking the variator off as i undone the nut the belt was pushing the outer pully towards me so i know that the belt was getting squished between the variator and drive, i put my old worn polini speedcontrol variator in and problem erased. the drive shaft is wider and allows more room for aproper belt. but it was justas slow due to variator being fucked. but it was very revvy. just need a new variator but limited on funds atm
so youi didnt put the belt in right (as i thought 3 topics ago) if you crush the belt, you need to make SLACK the clutch end.. not throw in some old belt and another variator.. you REALLY havent grasped whats going on inside your tranny cover yet still rip it to peices every 5 mins.. are you putting a ?NEW variator nut on each time like you should? guessing no, ewspecially if you cant put a belt on wihtout crushing the hell out of it and tightening the pulley against i. the variator nut will obviously fall off wihtin mins if this is done.
