Hello everyone I've recently put a new exhaust on my jonway 125 all seems well as I'm riding but when I get home I can smell a bad burning rubber smell. And it's not from the transmission side so I don't think it's my drive belt it smells like it's coming from the exhaust itself! Could it be the rubber that's on the straps actually melting? Thought they were built for that tho. Any help would be great thanks
Yes I put it back the same as the old 1 come off mate. Plus I've never had this smell before I put the exhaust on so I carnt see why it would be anything else. It has 2 metal straps wrapped around the muffler with rubber grippers underneath and they are bolted to the swing arm. Then it's bolted with m8 bolts and a gasket to the manifold. Sound ok??
Don't know your bike or exhaust, esp.how #2.'s designed,however- an not not taking the p.,but as is new?,there was'nt any 'inner'packing/protective measures ala for say shipping or transportation / still inside any portions of the exhaust?.
You mean inside like the muffler? I had to use me old down pipe cos the other 1 didn't fit. I will take it off and have a look. That's a good point thanks haha.
I couldn't see nothing in it today mate. I out the old strap that was on the old exhaust on the new exhaust today. (That strap the exhaust to the swing arm) and the smell had almost gone when I took it for a ride. Could still smell rubber but I'd say about 60% less than yesterday
Materials on new may not have been configured along lines as old, if still whiffing a bit,s'more than likely burning residue off.
