I have just bought a new 125, any tips and pointers? As i have never ridden a bike with gears so I am throwing myself into the deep end lol, so wish me luck
looks a nice bike matey. my only advice (newbie to gears too) is be smooth and slow with the clutch. you can end up jerking yourself around alot if your not
Spend a bit of time especially practicing off the road, preferably on relitively smooth practicing areas., Watch the speed particulary in your early riding/learning as with a 'ped you've just got your general combo of two brakes an throttle, with geared you'll need to get used to working throttle, handbrake, footbrake, clutch,an esp.gear lever which you'll need to get used to using according to riding conditions, Best to start off slow and build yourself up elsewise could get into trouble at higher speeds +various situations you encounter otr due to lack of familiarity.mk.

Lol, thanks guys, ur advice is very greatly recieved, I managed to ride from Exeter to Bristol, stalled twice, but all in all part from the headlight fell out and was hanging on by a cable tie, lol, but it stayed on so I just need to put it back on, self tap in screws should do the trick, everything went smooth, she rides amazing, just learning about the clutch work, my hand is aching like fuck now tho, here's a better pic of her
Squeezy ball,or everlast type grips should help with/can be used anywhere., Bit more interaction with the hands an feet than a 'ped, ehh. .
lol i nearly hit a pheasent today, luckily it jumped out ahead and i could slow down to ease around it also try and get it into your head to use the gears if your braking sharpish, i found myself stopping in a hurry (with the aid of a car/wall) today, and found it still in 5th
I would of been on-line almost immediately to find out how long I needed to hang the little bugger!, wonder if they go good with chips?., If your in a low speed crunch, one of the things you may want to think about immediately is turning the ignition off toot sweet!,for safety's sake.mk.
i somehow un squeezed myself (didnt stall it so held clutch in while i moved myself out) then as the old guy was telling me to turn it off so he could hear me, i switched it off.
Take it the revs were up a.......bit. ., slid a gp down the road in '88 avoiding a blatant jaywalker - low speed slide/throttle jammed wide open when stoppppped suddenly, clutch out an in gear - worst part was back wheel was up spinning 'bout 20-25 mph, coulda been nasty as most peeps are a little stupified after a little tarmac tickle. .
