right, today I done my CBT got my suzuki katana ay50r now.... everyone told me they were slow etc well i got 51mph out of it, and it ISN'T even de-restricted! (as far as I'm aware it isn't as it costs ALOT of money since its done in like 8 places lol) standard exhaust on it aswell only conclusion is a 70cc big bore kit on it ? 0-30 is pretty fucking quick for a low geared bike!!! wow! so happy with it
you wait until a decently setup piaggio comes past you. youll noticed whos slow then. katana are good off the line due to low gearing. fail everywhere else.
LOL funny you should say that Kyle... boy who lives near me just got his ped fixed the tyre got punctured and her was on his bike and so was I, was only going 30 and he zoomed past so i thought why not lol and we raced and fuck me the acceleration on that nrg is shiteeeee techincally I don't know exactly how fast it goes as it only goes up to 50 on the speedo and it gets even faster at that speed. and it isn't de-restricted cause if it was it would still only do about 35 and it has 8 places to de-restrict? dad thinks previous owner put big bore on it lolz

It is derestricted. If anything my katana wasnt restricted on the manifold was same diameter and perfectly matched to the 12mm kiehin carb so would imagine yours is and opened fully to the reedblock. even that is open and matched. If anything its not restricted. As minor said look for stamp. On mine look tru the left hand panel as your sitting on it. and you should see a raised platform. mines says polini, yours should say suzuki or otherwise its kitted otherwise. Look at the set up on members ride. If youintend on tuning it, sell it straight. Seriously i wouldnt waste your time. Coming from a owner of a katana for two years now, buy a piaggio. ive brought an Zip sp, seriously cant wait to get back on it.
As far as I know theres no way a katana does 50mph without a bigger variator or longer gearing, so yes its definatly been de-restricted, and proberly had something in the transmission changed.... You only think its fast because you havnt ridden better.... I was quite impressed last month by a 50cc standard zip, just well serviced, nippy lil thing. When I owned my x8r I thought it was something special but I soon found out it wasnt after riding quite a few other scoots lol. As for the nrg, it was blatantly fucked. proberly had square rollers fuck all belt and springs looser than a nymtho.
yeah true well thanks for all help, and what I was tyring to say was... I don't care for top speed as you could have a scoot that does 100 and takes 100 hours to get to that speed :L I just wanted something that was snazzy, quick, zippy etc. and I got that + more accelerates very quickly and has great top end speed I'm just trying to figure out what happened XD

I'm just glad I have it now but apparently the engines are gutless when it has been de-restricted and will only go faster with a good pipe, rollers and other shit. but as far as I can see everything is standard lol
over 50 ain't slow at all. Very quick at getting to 50 aswell due to low gearing I'm very impressed with it, mate came round today and dad went on both peds had a look at both of them and cleaned the air filters and shit.... after seeing my mates peugeot speedfight 2 my dad said he couldn't imagine a worse built bike obviously my bike aint the best bike in the world but I'm comparing it to other peoples bikes around my area and I'm very pleased with it

all derestricted scoots do over 50 so its avarage... as avarage as they come, it will probably have a variator in there but again, with short gears and no pipe even with a 70 kit its not gonna be anything special.. need to wake up a bit. bear in mind your telling a comunity of scooter tunners your prittymuch standard bike is "fast" wich we all know it REALLY isnt.
