UPDATE: Well the kit came today, and theres some things i need to clear up. Ive read through all of the instructions, checked the ring gaps etc. Going to be fitting it on friday, but basically, I want to know: What should the squish be? What should I torque the head+barrel down to? And i ordered anbother standard plug as I was told to use this, however, after screwing it into the head losely, its only half way down the threadson the head? is this normal or should i have a long thread plug (standard has a short thread) Do i really need to move the needle? Do I need to alter the air screw? thanks Ok, so I need a new barrel and piston for my neos, so I've decided I may aswel get a 70 kit. Im going to be running totally standard except derestricted with a Polini 70 sport kit (iron) Just want to know: What does the head/barrel need to be torqued to? What should the squish be? What do I need to up jet to (standard is 72) - was planning on ordering 2 or 3 different jets, but not sure which? How long do I need to run it in for? I presume my crank will be ok, its done around 7000miles, but will have standard exhaust etc so will not be a particularly powerful setup, just better than stock. Thanks for any help in advanced. Sorry to make another 70 setup thread
run it in for 300 miles ishh. in the early stages give it a few blaps of full throttle every now and then but its not worth over doing it. i would go real easy for like the 1st 50 miles maybe
Cheers, would it be better to run it with a richer jet for a while? Just realised I've stuck this in the wrong section aha.
no, jet it properly, rich fucks engines too torque figures an squish will be with the barrel (polini give you all you need when you buy there kits) the correct jet will be what your bike tells you.. get a box of jets going up by 2 from your jet upwards.. will keep you in jets for the next few upgrades easily crank is hit or miss as always with a 2t.. try it an see
oh yeah but im not really jus gonna throw a random jet in and hope. a basic start point, ie size 80 or somthing i dont know
Find out what your standard jet size is (as in, go outside and take the float bowl off and check) then work up from there, don't just guess. But to help you a bit more, i had a 78 jet in my Neo's with a polini sport.
erm, its pritty simple.. take your jet size.. get 10 upwards from that in multipuls of 2.. start wiht the biggest and work down thill its FASTEST an the plugs commin out white... now up one jet and it should be about right dont just put a fuck off big jet in there an ignor the rollers ALL the bikes i see about are WAY over rich an heavy on the rollers its unneeded. u know how many nrg's there are out there with 90 sommin jets in stock carbs
so is it ok to go for short flat out blasts when setting it up to get the jetting right? andd, what rollers would you reccomend as a starting point, standard is 6.5 btw. and standard jet is 72, so im guna start at 80.
well, if you use the biggest jet you have then set the rolers up... then lean it out. people go silly wiht rollers/jetting... im down to a 90 in my 25mm carb and its still rich. once the inlet bullshit is sorted ill up the weight and drop the jetting... silly inlet area atm due to the polini inlet and 10mm spacer ive had to run but ye.. the bike will tell you what you need to know, just need to know how to listen
could do with knoeing about the spark plug? as if i need a different one i could do with orderin one or getting one you see
could really do with knowing about the plug. Im using a NGK BR7HS (standard) like this: http://www.ritzcamera.com/graphics/prod ... 510288.jpg as you can see its a short thread but when i screw it into the head it only goes down half the thread? Thanks
Did you order it from Scooter-attack ??? IF SO, CAN YOU READ "Cylinder Polini 70cc Sport Polini, the market leader in two stroke tuning, have produced this reliable cast-iron kit for everyday use. Will work with the original carburettor although mainjet should be increased by aprox. 8-10%, power output up to 9 Bhp. Remarkable because of its massive bottom end punch, which makes it a wheely addict's premier choice. Comes with gaskets, piston and cylinder-head. We recommend Bosch's W3CC (W3AC) spark-plug. Use long-thread sparkplug for this cylinder" The Answer to your question would be: Bosch W3CC (W3AC)
