    Hey guys
I was drastically losing compression on my new 50cc cylinder barrel. so I replaced the cylinder bolts which have stripped the thread in the engine. I just need to know what you guys think would be the best thing to do to get this problem sorted out....
Size M7 helicoil or tap and die to Size M8? All help is much appreciated.

Tap and die to M7, no need to go to M8.
    Hate helicoils
    Buy new M7 studs

    Then M8 x 1.25 tapped.
Start with a number 2 tap then a plug (No:3 tap) to get the threads all the way to the bottom.

great thanks mate. I did what you said and got a result "nice one pal" but I made the mistake of buying carbon steel instead of stainless. I put the engine back together and back on the bike to find out that I was losing compression AGAIN grrr lol
it turns out that the carbon steel m8 rod at the top of the cylinder head had completely threaded so I bought some stainless steel rod to replace it and put it all back together and hope it works. I'll post the results.
    Cheers mate

it's sorted now anyway I'm getting between 100-130 psi compression but i think the problem now is fuel, the bike starts but whenever I apply throttle it bogs down and wants to stall. I have set the carb air fuel mixture screw by closing it then turning it 1 and a quarter turns out then 1 and a half turns out for the idle. it starts but I get a chugging sound coming from the exhaust and get no acceleration the back wheel won't even turn and I don't understand what it could be I've tried everything hhellpp! cheers in advance

come out more on the idle mixture screw im not sure on the Jog , but i can tell you some piaggios need around 2 and 3/8s out on the mixture screw as stock, some as low as one turn out.

start at 1 1/2 turns out, add throttle slowly shut down throttle tweek the mixture screw again by 1/4 turn, try throttle again, if it dont play ball, shut throttle down , tweek the screw setting by another 1/4 and try again.

WRITE down what you do, ie

    starting at 1 1/2 out
    adjusted to 1 3/4 out
    adjusted to 2 out

this way you know exactly what you have done and if need be can revert back to stock just following your notes in reverse

you may also need to check the main jet has not blocked up if it gets blocked it can cause some of the symptoms your are having to , check out retrivals speedfight 100cc problem i talk you through cleaning the main jet, its the same for almost all carbs from small 12mm all the way upto monster 28mm carbs and bigger

hey I have upgraded to a 19mm racing carb with an 80 jet (brand new Naraku)... the bike still runs the same I checked everything prior to installation. I have a feeling it might be something to do with the 2stroke oil pipe that comes from the engine as it was pumping out oil from a crack near where it goes on to the carb

this needs looking into if thats the case, whats happening is your running lean on oil and the bikes overheating due to lack of lubrication.

Ha, I was asking because I'm playing with the idea of putting a 17mm manual choke carb on the suzuki.
was wondering what sort of difference the bigger carb made.
