This is a great forum with many people with incredible knowledge of tuning but i also understand alot of you get annoyed when people start threads to ask certain questions which have been answered before. I just wanted some basic information on which pipe would be best for my setup. My bike is a aprilia sr50 2008 piaggio. I have green polini clutch springs, 5.3G polini rollers and a polini variator and laser exhaust. First off, the laser pipe is brilliant, other then the loud annoying sound, it does perform very well, But i dont think i have setup the pipe correctly as i hear the laser is quite a hard pipe to get the setup bang on. I tried 5.8g rollers and everytime i hit around 32MPH the pipe would just bog down and the exhaust note would incrediably quieten down and i could feel the pipe wasnt producing the full potential of its power, But yet it still accelerates to over the clock but just not as quick. So i put 5.3G rollers that came with my polini variator, this has made the acceleration better and also changed the bogg down at 32mph, but this time it has made it occur at around 38MPH. i suspect the rollers are not setup right. I take it i need to go even lower in roller weight? maybe shall i try 5.0g polini ones? Thanks for the help guys. I just wanted to know also, my friends say the pm 360 will perform better then the laser, but i have heard nothing but the bad respetive of pm tuning and the bad quality of there products. But the question is do they actually perform well, Do you guys think it would be a better performing exhaust then my laser? Just a random thought guys im not buying another pipe next mod is the 70 kit. Just this laser is difficult to set up correctly buy im cool with it.
1 thing i noticed in your post is you dont mention if youve upjetted the carb or not ?? the laser will need around a 5% upjet over the stock jet if the rollers are too heavy it will bog as you have described, fitting slightly lighter rollers moved the bog further up the powerband, so yes i would go lighter still
