Hi guys, earlier today fittd my mates Jog RR with a TT Pipe and 5.0g Rollers, i didnt touch the carb, hes now at my house because on the way home he went to go off a roundabout onto the dual cariageways and pulled the throttles and it just bogged and died, i went and pushed him to my house, the bike is trying to start (so its not seized) as its turning over beautifully, i took the airbox off and floatbowl changed it from a 62 jet standard to 70, still didnt fire, then upon slightly moving one of the pipes which hang by the carb (the thickest one) it came of, im pretty sure it ataches to the fuel tank, not to sure really, need help asap he needs to get home tonight.
    Thanks
    Ross.

Sounds like a heat seize why didn't you upjet?

If its heat seized it will try and start and probably will do eventually, i've rid about 50 miles on a heat seized barrel i though tit was a carb problem :L :emb:

So the fuel pipes come? Whats the big deal about that either you've explained it a bit fuddled up or its nothing major

I think its resolved, no its not heat seized, loads of compression, there is spark and its turning over nicely, jus had it confirmed by dec that the pipe which has come off is the Vacum for fuel, will get it back on tomorrow and let you know, just your opinion guys, its the pipe which hangs by the airbox and is connected to fuel tank.

Well there'll be 2 coming out the tank yeah?

Suck on the one thats out, if it tastes of petrol, if not its the vacuum lol.

    Glad its sorted

aint sorted yet mate, gotta strip plastics to get to tank tomorrow, its a brand new Jog RR its minttttttt rossi rep, was sold to him by a local dealer by me and they had to build it all there selves, like put carb together and shit and they left a sleeving in one of the pipes, so it was blocking fuel and now they fixed that, hes having more trouble, hopefully this is the last, it smells of fuel but dosnt go to carb, like i said it hangs next to airbox by float bowl overflow.

So the pipe which came of was from the cat converter, fixed it now anyway his spark plug was fucked, and very black and oily, the mixture screw is just bottom/left of the idle screw am i right, which way should i turn it to correct this, thanks

no, the idle speed is to the bottom left of the one where the airbox goes, where the airbox goes is the idle mix,

if the pipes for the cat on tha standard pipe i dno wher ur gna put that as it wont have a cat on the tt, cant you make the bike standard again take it back, get them to fix it then do it again, jus fit the pipe and rollers, dont touch tha carb

if you change the pipe you can just forget about the cat.. hardly a cat anyway, its air recirculation (adds fresh air to the exhaust gasses to lower emmisions altho the emmisions are the same,t heres just more fresh air comming out wiht them.. fucking backwards and pointless if you ask me)

as for "the plugs black, how do i fix this" dont fuck wiht things you dont understand.. put it back to stock.. get the carb setup right, then fit the pipe and get the rollers right.. upjet set the needle THEN sort the idle mix.

why are you doing work to other peoples NEWQ bikes if you dont understand simple carb setup? yes by all means experimentation is the best way to learn, but not wiht somone elses gear m8

i didnt just experiment on it, he asked me to fit his pipe and rollers so i did, i didnt expect the plug to die and pipes to start falling out, so i couldnt just leave it how it was, he was gonna take it to the place i took it to, to get it upjetted, and he needed to get home, so i couldnt just say i dont know your fucked lol, Tbh i learnt alot from trying to fix it, Anyway i fixed it now, and hes gonna take it to be jetted and carb setup properly tomorrow/
