    hiya
over the last month ive been conerting my zip 50 to a 125.
ive had loads of problems as this is my first time doing a conversion.
ive got everything done now im just having trouble gettin the thing going.
im running an open air filter as the airbox now doesnt fit.
the only way i can get the bike started is to squirt a bit of petrol down the manifold. the bike will tick over for about half a minite before dying out.
ive cleaned the carb loads of times and done the vacum and it still doesnt want to stay alive. the only way i can keep it going is when the bike is dying is to smother the air filter to stop any air gettin in then, unsmothering the filter and it will tick over for a bit longer :confused:arc: any ideas
i know this is a noob question butt i really want to get it on road and mot's n all that soon :)

thanks tom (sorry for the essay)

ive also changed the fuel tap

one thing ive noticed is that theres a nipple on the carb with no hose going to it. right at the front next to near the manifold. its a mikuni carb btw

there should be a pipe coming from the petrol tank going to the nipple that you have left out. (right near the manifold).

ye theres a vaccum pipe that i have connected to the big gold nipple coming out the actuall engine next to the manifold but theres a hole nipple left out on the carb.
when i got the engine the nipple next to the manifold that i now have the vaccum pipe on was blocked up.
shall i block it up again and use the nipple on the carb for the vaccum pipe

yh block the nipple on the actual engine, and put the other pipe from the petrol tank on the carb.

make sure its blocked good though otherwise will be hard to start.

it should be fine once you done that

it sucking too much air, so thats why it runs a bit better when you cover the filter

im assuming its running fine now, seeing as you ent replied all day lol
